Bikes made of wood? Yep, it really works. Connor Wood Bicycles creates wood bikes that are as functional as they are beautiful. Through the use of great design coupled with advanced adhesives and composite reinforcements you can get a bike that looks incredible, has unbelievable strength and gives you a ride quality like no other material out there. The wood has a natural ability to absorb shocks and vibrations delivering an stunningly smooth ride while looking absolutely amazing. It's a joy-filled riding experience unlike anything else. You kind of have to try it to believe it.
The Connor Mountain Cruiser is the latest creation to come from the wood cycle-works in Denver Colorado where each bike is built by hand by master craftsman Chris Connor. Chris brings a long history of working with wood to the bicycle. His background in designing beautiful furniture, classical guitars, boats and carbon fiber creations all came together with his love for cycling in a realization that though careful craftsmanship, cutting-edge adhesive and composite technologies and the use of aesthetics a new flavor of bicycle can be made. The bikes have been race tested in the harshest of riding conditions and have won awards for their beauty. Best of all, they have a marine grade protective finish shielding them from the elements and keeping them beautiful for years to come.
The Mountain Cruiser is a minimalist cruiser sporting beefy knobby tires to smooth out the roads or trails coupled to a Gates carbon belt drive (a maintenance free alternative to the traditional bike chain). A lightweight carbon-fiber fork, disc brakes, a comfy saddle and matching grips make this bike rolling artwork. Park it in your living room if you'd like, but be sure to actually ride it in order to fully appreciate what it's all about.
The Connor Mountain cruiser is available in three different sizes, 15" 17" and 19" for small through large size riders. It also comes available in two configurations, either with the knobby fat 27.5" plus size tires (2.8"), or as a 29er with high volume smooth cruiser tires (2.35"). Also as an option, choose single-speed belt drive, or add an 8-speed internal gear hub to let you climb those hills or stretch your legs on the flats all in a sealed maintenace-free drive train. Custom configurations are available through the maker or upon special request.
All bikes are built to order so allow 8-10 weeks for creation of your bicycle. Ships insured in an oversize triangular crate which requires minimal reassembly of the bike and guarantees damage-free delivery.
